The Alzheimer Society of Canada has begun a national awareness campaign called “Still Here.”

Developed by Brees Communications of Toronto, the effort is intended to counter negative attitudes about people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The campaign, which is timed to coincide with the start of Alzheimer Awareness Month, includes national print and online advertising, as well as a 30-second video and an online quiz about the disease. The creative depicts people with dementia encouraging viewers to see the person first and the disease second.

‘#StillHere’ is an important step forward in recognizing that a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s does not suddenly make someone disappear,” said Liz Falconer, president and CEO of Brees Communications. “We wanted the campaign to dispel the myths around what it means to live with dementia and give those living with the Alzheimer’s and dementia a voice in the national conversation.”
